IPOB, the Indigenous People of Biafra, demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari release its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, on Sunday.
IPOB warned Buhari not to be fooled by claims that its members and the Eastern Security Network, or ESN, had been vanquished.
IPOB's spokesman, Emma Powerful, was responding to Buhari's statement dismissing the idea of a political solution to Kanu's prosecution.
Powerful connected Buhari's refusal to release Kanu to some foreign-based traitors and IPOB foes in a statement.
"We are the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the direction and leadership of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU," according to Powerful. Our attention has been directed to President Muhammadu Buhari's remark that he will not release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, our leader.
"We know that Buhari's stance, which came after he assured a delegation of Igbo leaders that he would examine their appeal for a political solution for Kanu, was not unrelated to the visit of certain foreign-based traitors and foes of our cause.
"What transpired in a meeting between these saboteurs and their host in Aso Rock was captured by our intelligence." The saboteurs and traitors agreed with the presidency in the terrible meeting that Mazi Nnamdi KANU should not be released, saying erroneously that IPOB and ESN had been defeated, which is false.
"However, we want to warn Buhari and his cohorts that if he fails to release Nnamdi Kanu, he will make a mistake that will consume Nigeria, because the crooks he met with were not providing him with accurate information on IPOB and the ESN group."
"Why should the federal government release criminals and terrorists who wreak havoc across the country, but not freedom seekers?"
"The federal government should not be duped by blacklegs and terminated Movement members who are feeding it false information about IPOB and the ESN outfit for monetary gain."
"IPOB is too enormous for them to fathom, and when they were in IPOB, they couldn't imagine IPOB and its operating approach; we won't name them." People who came to see him pledged to help him demolish IPOB and ESN, but they won't be able to do so, and they will be unhappy.
"No one is capable of defeating ESN and IPOB. We shall fight till the last man for the liberation of Biafra. Nobody can wreck the return of Biafra because it is a divine duty."
