After being released on bond on Friday afternoon, Benjamin Mendy was photographed going to his home. The Manchester City full-back has been held in custody since October 1 last year after being charged with seven charges of rape and one act of sexual assault.

Following his arrest, he was detained at HMP Altcourse, a Category B prison in Liverpool.

Mendy was relocated to top-security jail Strangeways, nicknamed the UK's 'grimmest' prison, over fears for his safety.

Mendy can now return to his £5 million Cheshire property, thanks to a judgement from Cheshire Crown Court on Friday.

Photographers captured the moment Mendy returned to the home, where he is required to follow strict bail conditions.

The Frenchman has been advised that he must forfeit his passport, stay at his home address, and avoid making contact with the complainants.

On January 24, Mendy and co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, 40, who is charged with six charges of rape and one count of sexual assault, will face a plea and trial preparation hearing.

Their actual trial is scheduled to begin on June 27 or August 1.

In 2018, Mendy bought his £5 million home from former England cricketer Freddie Flintoff.

He is returning to a mansion that is a far cry from the cells he had at HMP Altcourse and Strangeways.
