The winner of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021 will get $5 million. This follows the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to increase it from $4.5 million.
The 11% rise was authorized at a meeting of CAF executives on Friday in Douala, Cameroon.
The second-place finishers will receive $2.75 million, up from $2.5 million.
The prize money for the semi-finalists and quarter-finalists was also increased, bringing the total prize money rise to $1.85 million.
For their participation, each of the 24 countries that qualified for the competition will receive at least €534,000.
The new AFCON prize money structure is as follows:
* Winners: $5million
* Runners-up: $2.75million
* Semi-Finalists: $2.2million
* Quarter-Finalists: $1.175million
