“In the art of governing, and knowing the President, Muhammadu Buhari, I consider the 200 million as opposed to the few.
[On] the subject of Kanu, the President's decision would be governed by the general interest rather than a narrow sectional interest.
Some Igbo leaders recently pushed Buhari to liberate Kanu.
The elders made the appeal at a meeting with Buhari at the State House in Abuja.
The Amaechi-led elders requested President Buhari to unconditionally release IPOB leader.
Kanu was re-arrested in Kenya in June 2021 and extradited to Nigeria to face an Abuja Federal High Court.
Following his homecoming, the separatist was detained by the DSS.
