The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) said on Sunday that 5,604 new Covid-19 cases had been reported across the country in the previous 24 hours.
The Western Cape had the most (1,565), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (1.459) and Gauteng (1.459). (956).
The additional tests yielded a 27.2 percent positive rate, raising the total number of verified cases to 3,413,540.
According to health department data, 41 people died as a result of Covid-19, increasing the total number of deaths to 90,814.
There were a total of 20,570 tests performed.
