Before entering the United States, international visitors will no longer be required to show documentation of a negative Covid-19 test.
Due to the "tremendous success" the country had made in the fight against coronavirus, a senior administration official and a US Centers For Disease Control and Prevention official stated they were eliminating the restriction.
On Sunday, June 12th, the change will take effect.
In 90 days, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will review the policy.
Should additional variants make officials believe it is required, the administration said it will "not hesitate to act" to reinstate the regulation.
"We are able to take this step because of the tremendous progress we've made in our fight against the virus: we've made lifesaving vaccines and treatments widely available, and these tools are effective against the prevalent variants circulating in the US and around the world," a senior official told reporters.
