Ace Magashule, the ANC's suspended secretary-general, has been barred from attending a branch activity in Musina, Limpopo, on Friday.
Magashule was invited to speak at ward 8 of Musina's Sumbandila branch. The party told the branch to cancel the function because Magashule was suspended from party operations.
Rudzani Ludere, the ANC's regional secretary in Vhembe, issued an email disapproving of Magashule's visit to branch chairperson and event organizer Fistos Mafela.
Vice-president Basikop Makamu copied Provincial Secretary Soviet Lekganyane.
In an email obtained by City Press, Ludere chastised the branch leadership for organizing the events and inviting Magashule, citing party regulations.
“Your activity is in conflict with the ANC constitution as enacted in the 54th national conference, particularly rule 25,” the email stated.
“Your branch is advised to suspend comrade Ace Magashule's visit scheduled for January 7,” Ludere wrote in an email.
According to Nomvula Mokonyane, a party member, the party is unaware of any occurrences involving Magashule.
Mafela claimed he got the email at 10 p.m. He stated they then contacted Magashule, who was still in Musina.
For his part, Magashule was expelled from the party in May.
So the party had to suspend him from all operations until he cleaned his name.
Magashule declined to comment.
