MANCHESTER UNITED's star player Paul Pogba is expected to leave Manchester United this summer. Manchester United's best player Paul Pogba is rumoured to have told club officials that he wants to join Real Madrid this summer. The 28-year-contract old's expires at the end of the season, and he appears to be on his way out of the Premier League.
Pogba returned to the 13-time Premier League champions in 2016, after the Red Devils paid a club record £89 million to lure him away from Juventus.
He had previously lived in Manchester as a child before moving to Italy in 2012.
After excelling at Juventus, Pogba arrived with a reputation as one of the world's most brilliant players.
However, the France international has fallen short of expectations, suffering from inconsistency in form as well as injuries.
Pogba's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent years as his contract expires.
And, according to The Star, it appears that the player may be leaving the Red Devils soon.
The 2018 World Cup winner is yet to play for Ralf Rangnick because of a groin ailment, though he has finally been cleared to play.
Even if Pogba's objective is simply to show possible suitors what he can do, United's interim manager has stated that he plans to play the superstar in the coming months.
"Rangnick added, "My contract as a manager also expires in the summer."
"We all have the same goal in mind. We have the same goal of being as successful as possible in the next three to four months.
"It doesn't matter to me if a player's contract is up for renewal. The question is how much he still wants to be a part of this group - how much emotional and physical commitment he still has.
"If that's the case, why shouldn't Paul Pogba play today, after a two-and-a-half-month layoff?
"He's back to full fitness now, and he wants to show the Manchester United fans, the board, and the rest of the world what sort of player he can be.
"And, even if it's just to prove himself worthy of a new contract elsewhere, he'll be very driven to do it, so why should I pass him up?
"There is a distinction in the way players approach their current circumstances. How do they deal with it?
"I'll play guys if they manage it professionally and ambitiously, despite the fact that their contract expires in the summer."
