Aubameyang left out

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in Cameroon with the Gabon team for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, although he has yet to play a game after two group games.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the forgotten Arsenal star, has been left out of Gabon's squad for the Africa Cup of Nations match against Ghana on Friday night.

Aubameyang was diagnosed with a "heart condition" by the Gabonese FA, and he also missed Gabon's first game against Libya after testing positive for Covid.

The Gabonese Football Federation issued the following statement: "The players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Axel Meye, and Mario Lemina, who are just out of the Covid, are not allowed to play in this match, according to the CAF medical committee. Heart problems would be discovered during the examinations. CAF was adamant about not taking any chances."

Meye, a striker for Moroccan side Ittihad Tanger, and Lemina, a midfielder for Nice, both tested positive for Covid.

After returning late from a trip to France on December 6, Aubameyang has not played since.

Mikel Arteta has frozen out the 32-year-old, who has been stripped of his captaincy and could be sold this month.

However, it appears that despite traveling to Cameroon to represent his country, he may not be able to play in the AFCON.

After being caught partying with team-mates in Dubai just days before, Aubameyang tested positive for Covid upon his arrival in Cameroon.

Gabon will play Morocco in their last group game on Tuesday.
