Nigerians and Africans in Hollywood stand out for their outstanding movie performances. Cynthia Erivo and Uzo Aduda, both of Nigerian descent, were nominated for the coveted prize.
Cynthia Erivo was nominated for her work as Aretha Franklin in "Genius: Aretha" in the category of "Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie." For her role in the American drama "In Treatment," Uzo Aduba was nominated for "Best Actress in a Drama Series." Issa Rae was also nominated for her work in "Insecure" in the category of "Best Actress in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy."
