Mr Alozie is accused of unlawfully collecting N500 from every pupil in all of the state's primary and secondary schools.
Professor Anthony Agbazuere, the Governor of Abia State's Chief of Staff, claimed the suspect "sent letters to Primary and Secondary Schools in the State, collecting? 500 from every student without the Governor's sanction."

"Abia State Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D. is profoundly shocked that one Wogu Alozie, a Director in the Ministry of Education, addressed letters to Primary and Secondary Schools in the State, collecting?500 from every student without the Governor's sanction," Prof. Agbazuere said in a statement.
"The said Wogu Alozie, who signed for the Permanent Secretary without the Permanent Secretary's approval, has admitted to the illegal act and is currently working with the police to uncover the syndicate entirely."
"In their own best interests, all those who pad wages, hide under the guise of government to swindle people, or participate in various types of corruption are encouraged to have a rethink or be prosecuted."
