The ceremony which was attended by movie makers and stars from Ghana and Nigeria saw Ghana winning twenty-three and Nigeria winning six awards. Nigeria’s awards on the night included Golden Sound Editor won by Puis Fakoke (Fifty), Golden Indigenous won by (Dara), Golden Short Film won by Femi Adebayo for Alima, Golden Editor won by Matthew Bate for Fifty, Golden Story (Drama) won by Afe Olumowe for Anniversary and Golden Actor (Drama) won by Gideon Okeke for Gbomogbomo Express.
Yvonne Okoro’s ‘Ghana Must Go’ and Nana Obiri Yeboah’s ‘The Cursed Ones’ were the biggest winners. The award ceremony was hosted by Anita Erskine and comedian DKB, with music performances by Okyeame Kwame and The Darlings.
It was a case of host and win for Ghana at the 2016 Golden Movie Awards Africa, held at the Kempinski hotel in Accra, Saturday night.
