Laurent Blanc has been sacked as manager of Paris Saint-Germain, with the Frenchman set to receive a whopping €22m settlement fee

Blanc had been under pressure at the Parc des Princes helm for a while despite winning the domestic treble in his last two seasons at the club.

The 50-year-old guided the Parisians to the Ligue 1 crown for three successive seasons after taking over in the summer of 2013, but his failure to succeed in the Champions League saw his stock tumble. His side were knocked out at the quarter-final stage by Manchester City in 2015/16.

He signed a new two-year contract extension in February but it emerged earlier this week that he was expected to leave PSG soon, with the coach’s agent confirming Blanc could be gone by Friday.

''I think so,” Jean-Pierre Bernes told French radio station Europe 1 when asked if the end was nigh. “We’re in discussions with PSG directors and it’s being done in an excellent atmosphere from both sides. Simply put, there are rules that need to be respected to end a contract and PSG are respecting those.”

Reports escalated on Thursday evening as L’Equipe claimed that Blanc’s contract had been terminated at a cost of €22m. And his sacking has now been confirmed by….

Former Sevilla coach Unai Emery is widely expected to take over as manager after expressing his desire to leave the La Liga outfit earlier this month. Sevilla confirmed the 44-year-old will be leaving his post and he could now be set to move to PSG ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
