The African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), the prestigious pan-African reward system for the motion picture practitioners, found a new home in the garden city, Port Harcourt, Capital of Rivers State in Nigeria.
South African artists were in attendance and they were dressed up for the occassion. Though not in attendance, starlet Thishiwe Ziqubu won the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role in Tell me Sweet Something. She was nominated in the same category as Moshesh. Tell Me Sweet Something also won the award for Achievement in Screenplay, while Hear Me Move was awarded for Achievement in Editing.
The movie Ayanda has been doing good at global and local film festivals. It has since won awards such as the SAFTAs’ Best Achievement by a Lead Actress in a Feature Film.
They added another one to their collection with Moguvhani scooping the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role wherein Nomzamo Mbatha was also nominated.
Sporting a crimson Scalo Designer number, the actress took to Instagram to share the news and her joy. “Oh... It's just me with my AFRICA MOVIE ACADEMY AWARD! I'm so honoured and grateful for this, words cannot begin to explain it,” Moguvhani wrote on Instagram after her win.
