Real Madrid playmaker Isco has revealed his family dog is named after Messi.

The Spanish international claims he had nothing to do with the naming although did admit to being a big admirer of Messi in his younger years.

''I have to say in my favour that calling the dog Messi was more my brother and dad’s idea than mine,” he said.

''I’m washing my hands of it, I’m a Madrid man and that’s that.

''The dog is with my parents now. I don’t walk him anymore, imagine me calling him Messi in the streets.”
