And Katy Perry appropriately enough wore cat ears to the launch of her new collaboration on Sunday in New York.
The 31-year-old sported a plunging lingerie inspired top black culottes as she sported the playful headwear.
The
hitmaker's gloss features darker shades, and in promotion of the
cosmetic Katy carried around a pair of fake lips in dark chocolate hue.
, this is the first time she has served as an artistic director for a line, and her influence won't go unnoticed.
'After several wonderful years of being the face, I now get to create the face!' she tweeted on Friday.

Instead
of playing it safe with her first ad, Katy went for a
dominatrix-inspired look that included a fitted corset featuring
cutouts, fingerless white gloves that show off her long black nails, and
a small arrow in her ear.
The star modeled dramatic black winged eyeliner and matte black lipstick that are a sharp contrast to her porcelain skin.

Speaking to Vogue about the range of matte lipsticks and mascaras, Katy said that she 'wanted to push the envelope with CoverGirl'.
'You
know, a black lipstick or a blue mascara is very Tumblr—I told them,
this is what’s happening online, this is what everyone’s Instagramming,'
she explained.
The
star revealed that she gets all of her inspiration Tumblr, noting it is
her preferred form of social media because it isn't a 'narcissistic
social platform' based on likes.

Dark Horse singer already has big plans for the collection, which
includes 13 demi-matte lipsticks and mascara in blue and black.
Katy
said that she and her friends will be modeling the collection at
Coachella this weekend, and she plans on picking a 'theme for each day'.
'One day we’ll be romantic Lolitas, the next day we’ll be vampires—and I’ll match my lipstick to that theme,' she said.

where she said she will be wearing the line's Perry Panther, the same
shade of black she models in her ad campaign.
However, her boyfriend Orlando Bloom, 39, may not be thrilled with her choice.
'It
will be really fun, and it’s super fashion, you know—you see it a lot
on the runways these days. I already told my boyfriend we will not be
able to kiss, unless he wants black lips!'
For
fans who can't wait to copy the star's beauty looks, 11 of the 13 Katy
Kat Matte Lipsticks are exclusively available on pre-order through
Walmart, while the rest of the line will start rolling out in July.
