But Brooklyn Beckham proved that he's not adverse to taking some inspiration from his famous father David's own fashionable past, on Wednesday.
Heading out into London with a group of pals, the 17-year-old photographer sported a topknot hairstyle which his father first rocked during his time at LA Galaxy in 2010.
Sitting outside at a cafe with two friends, Brooklyn looked to be enjoying a spot of lunch and a catch-up.
Obviously in the mood to kick-back and relax, the teen opted for a casually cool wardrobe - and clearly feeling the humidity in the capital, he donned a grey printed tee-shirt with a bald eagle on it.
He teamed the tee with a pair of black skinny jeans, rounding his look off with a pair of white trainers.
And while Brooklyn's laid-back theme extended to his hair, the eldest of David and Victoria's brood had clearly been inspired by one of his father's old 'dos'.
Sweeping his long dark locks into loose and shaggy topknot, Brooklyn looked a near dead-ringer for his father - minus the blonde hair.
Joshing and joking around with his friends, the teenager appeared to be in high spirits, which is perhaps unsurprising now that he and actress Chloe Moretz are officially a couple.
Grilled on her rumoured romance with the Brooklyn, the Kick-Ass star explained: 'I think the more I don't make it mysterious, the more people don't care. So, yes, we're in a relationship.'
Rumours began to circulate that the famous teens were dating after Chloe and Brooklyn spent more and more time together, and Brooklyn did nothing to disuade gossip by posting a series of loved-up Instagram snaps.
And it seems that Chloe is equally as smitten with her boyfriend's family, as she said of David and Victoria: 'He's a great dad, she's a great mother. They genuinely are very good parents that's what matters most, they made a pretty son.'
