Victoria Beckham celebrated her 42rd birthday a day early by dining on sushi at Nobu Malibu with her family on Saturday

Victoria Beckham celebrated her 42nd birthday with her family around her on Saturday, with the exception of her 17-year-old son Brooklyn.

The Beckham matriarch lead children Romeo, 13, Cruz, 11, and Harper, four, into sushi restaurant Nobu, in Malibu a day ahead of her big day as husband David gathered the troops around to spoil her rotten.

Cool parents Victoria and David had allowed their eldest son Brooklyn to miss the family occasion as he was partying elsewhere, in Indo, California for fashionable music festival, Coachella.

Sticking to her faithful styles and colour palette, the designer unsurprisingly wore an elegant black gown and sky-high pumps. 

The former Spice Girl - born Adams - sported her signature bouffant-style ponytail and dark sunglasses for the meal. 

Her husband David opted for an achingly cool double-denim look with his sleeves rolled up to expose his array of tattoos.

Victoria and David's little princess was every bit the daddy's girl as she clung to the 40-year-old former footballer on the way out of the celebrity hotspot.

Absent: Noticeably missing was the Beckhams' eldest child Brooklyn, who was too busy partying at Coachella in Indio

David displayed his devotion to his dear wife at the stroke of midnight on her birthday when he penned a touching tribute on Instagram beside a new shot and an electric sign that read: 'Love you more.'

He wrote: 'Happy birthday to this beautiful passionate woman..... Have the most amazing day and let us spoil you because you deserve to be spoilt by your husband and our gorgeous children.. 

'In 42 years you have been able to achieve so much and it feels you are only just starting .... Happy birthday we love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️'

No doubt their first son Brooklyn would be sorely missed at the special do, though he was perhaps too busy partying.

The 17-year-old budding photographer - who's reportedly rekindled his relationship with young Hollywood star Chloë Grace Moretz - styled his hair in braids for the music festival.

'[Brooklyn is] a good boy,' David - who retired from his 20-year career in 2013 - told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday.

Careerwise, Victoria is launching a limited-edition make-up collection with Manhattan consmetics brand Estée Lauder this fall.
