The Happiest 5k on the Planet™ is about giving back to the community. Participants pick a charity, get a “Fun Raiser” code, and get all their friends to buy tickets under their code.
The main sponsor of The Color Run, Capitec Bank, has made it possible for R10 to be donated to education for each ticket sold. Following advice from Adopt-A-School, they will identify a school in need in the area, and address its most pressing requirements.

What happens on the Color Run

The Color Run is a feel-good, happy, colourful event. “Color Runners” of all shapes and sizes happily go from wearing pristine white clothing, to being covered in prismatic colour. At each kilometre mark, a different colour of powder fills the air and covers the participants, creating an ever-increasing spectrum of colour and beauty. At the finish line, the colour festival kicks off and the air is filled with millions of vivid colour combinations as participants get in on the colour throwing fun as well.
The Soil will be performing at the event and they had this to say about their involvement:

“It really means a lot - especially that we grew up in Soweto and we’re appreciated by the people of Soweto. We always want to perform in Soweto and it's thanks to events like the Color Run that we get to become part and parcel of Soweto heritage. The Color Run is going to be a great event for the whole family, because it’s so colourful, it attracts and unifies so many diverse people and it makes people so happy.”
They were also asked what inspiration participants can take from their music and they were short and sweet about it.

“Everything is possible, we did it from Soweto to the world, and they can also do it.”
It seems all roads lead to Soweto this weekend.
