At first glance, given that they have been eliminated from all of the cup competitions they have participated in, you could be forgiven for thinking that Chelsea have little to play for this campaign.
However, there is still a chance for Guus Hiddink's side to secure European qualification for next season and Chelsea can take a major step towards that goal by overcoming struggling Aston Villa this weekend.
With just days to go before their return to domestic action here's a round-up of all the latest news doing the rounds.
Chelsea are currently the most active side in the chase for coveted Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba. There has been much speculation about the Frenchman's future, with some reports suggesting that Pogba could be open to a move to the Premier League. The Blues have previously had a €95m bid rejected and they are said to be the only club who have even come close to Juventus' evaluation. He wants to play in the Champions League next season though which could prove a stumbling point. (L'Equipe)
The Blues will attempt to convince Mats Hummels to join them in the summer, despite seeing the Borussia Dortmund centre-back snub their interest due to the likelihood of there being no Champions League football at Stamford Bridge next season. Chelsea, though, are still hopeful that a deal can come to fruition. (Fichajes)
Chelsea are ready to sign Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann. The no.7 star has scored 17 goals in La Liga this season while he has also created 47 chances. The Blues could certainly do with another forward option with Griezmann capable of operating effectively either up front or out wide. (Don Balon)
Chelsea look set to lose youngster Domingos Quina to Arsenal. The midfielder, who has represented Portugal at youth level, has reportedly walked out on the Blues and Arsenal believe they have won the battle to secure his services. BBC journalist Simon Stone reported that the deal could be finalised within 48 hours. (Telegraph)
Gianluigi Donnarumma has emerged as Chelsea's first-choice option to replace Thibaut Courtois should the Belgian leave the club this summer. Courtois has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and, if the proposed deal did go ahead, Chelsea would then attempt to sign 17-year-old Donnarumma, who has been hugely impressive for AC Milan this season. And finally, Chelsea have been handed a boost in their rumoured pursuit of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is believed to be favouring a move to London rather than elsewhere in England. The Paris Saint-Germain forward has recently confirmed interest from the Premier League and Swedish journalist Olof Lundh: "I think he would like to live in London. Whether that would be Chelsea, Arsenal or maybe even West Ham, we will see." (Sky Sports via Express)
