Converse, a song recorded by the trio, has been snapped up by the soccer team to use in its advertisements and promotions.
For Kasitime, made up of Masinga brothers Thammy and Sibusiso, as well as Lwazi Mhlongo, the deal will launch the group both locally and internationally.
The song was released last year on the group's blog and on free download. Thammy said they were shocked when they got an e-mail from Manchester City.
"We actually did not take thee-mail seriously. We just thought it was someone messing up with our minds," he said.
Thammy said the English giants kept calling until they were convinced that the deal was genuine. The team e-mailed them contracts, which were signed by both parties and sent back.
"We concluded the deal two weeks ago. We are very excited about the deal, especially as a young group. This is a big achievement and it will open doors for us," Thammy said.
The hip-hop song has a lot of explicit content about women, booze and fun. The lyrics are in English and Zulu.
"We called the track Converse because the group is called Kasitime. We wanted something that people from ekasi can relate to, which is converse (sneakers) because they are worn by a lot of people," Thammy said.
The trio comes from Game village near Nelspruit. They founded the group in 2009, and have been releasing tracks online for a while.
In 2010 they dropped a mix tape and have performed aroundMpumalanga and Polokwane.
Thammy said they planned to use the money made through the song and royalties to establish their own studio in Mpumalanga.
"We want to give back to the community. There are a lot of talented artists who need opportunities," Thammy added.
City officials could not be reached for comment .
