Her wardrobe is famously outlandish and frequently controversial.
But
Lady Gaga has revealed that when she's not out in public, she strips
things back to basics. 'I'm usually naked,' the 28-year-old singer told Style.com on Tuesday.
The day before the Applause hit maker covered up in a beige rain coat to take her dog for a walk in Stockholm, Sweden.
Wigging out: Lady Gaga sported a false
clump of dramatic curls as she stepped out in Stockholm, Sweden on
Monday with her beloved French Bulldog named Asia
'I'm
usually naked with my face mask on, running around my hotel room on my
cell phone, working my t**s off and burning sage,' Gaga explained to the
website, when asked how she's normally dressed when 'off duty.'
That was not the case on Monday, when the star decked herself out in the same dark curly wig she has been sporting a lot lately.
She teamed the eye-catching locks with aviator style sunglasses, a shiny beige trench and simple low black heels.
Feeling shy? The 28-year-old Applause singer pulled her collar up around her face as she stepped off her bus
With her adorable French Bulldog Asia on a lead by her side and her entourage leading the way, Gaga looked to be on a mission.
In
the Style.com interview, the songstress revealed the inspiration behind
the wig, which she also wears on the cover of she and Tony Bennett's
Cheek To Cheek jazz album.
'When
I was choosing what kind of hair I wanted to wear while singing this
album, I remembered how I wore my hair when I was 13 when I sang
standards for the first time,' she explained, adding: 'I'm an Italian
girl, so when I get out of the shower, my hair curls up and I get out my
diffuser and put spray in it.
Walkies! Later on, the performer was spotted taking her pooch out once again while wearing a sexy black outfit
Wow thing: Wearing a plunging tuxedo jacket, the singer drew stares from onlookers
'And thus, Because I'm returning to my roots with jazz, I thought I’d also return to my hair roots.'
And many of her wigs have come right from the queen of wigs herself - Cher.
'I
feel very supported and blessed that Cher has been so supportive of me
borrowing her wigs,' said the megastar. 'That shows the mark of a real
artist.'
Speaking
about her return to a less manufactured style of music - jazz - Gaga
also explained that she believes this is what the future of the music
industry is all about.
Coming through: The pop star made her way through the pretty Swedish city behind dark shades
Her people: Asia looked a little restless as Gaga was escorted through by her entourage
'I'm
excited that this album is coming out now because I think people are
ready for an organic type of music,' she said, even though most of her
music has been the precise opposite. 'I feel that culture is excited to
hear something more natural.'
And
perhaps Gaga's outlandish style is turning a corner, because it seems
her association with jazz great Tony Bennett has tamed her somewhat.
The
Poker Face singer first told the website: 'Truthfully, I like to be as
comfortable as possible when I’m onstage singing jazz,' and that, 'I
don’t like to be thinking about if I look beautiful or not, or if
there’s any sex appeal.'
'Cheek to Cheek style!' Lady Gaga has
revealed that her current curly haired wig is inspired by the way her
hair looked when she was 13 years old and first began singing jazz
And Tony's elegance has also rubbed off on her.
'I
also have been dressing so nicely because of Tony,' she confessed,
adding: 'He calls me 'lady' when I'm with him, and it inspires me to
wear elegant dresses.'
'He's
never told me to change my clothes. He loves everything I wear - even
when I come to the studio with a leather jacket on and a cigarette
hanging out of my mouth.'
Said the woman who once wore a slab of raw meat: 'Something about him makes me want to dress nice.'
'Something about him makes me want to
dress nice': Gaga, pictured here with Tony Bennett in Belgium earlier
this month, has said that the esteemed jazz singer inspires her wardrobe
Still,
though, her favourite outfit is still one designed for her by the late
Alexander McQueen, which features armadillo inspired heels and an
elaborately designed bodice dress.
This was the ensemble she wore to the MTV Video Music Awards in 2010, where she accepted an award for Bad Romance.
Gaga is currently taking her artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball tour through Europe, with Sweden being her current destination.
After her Stockholm show on Monday evening, the star will have a few days off before hitting Hamburg, Germany on October 3.
