We Day is an annual event organized by Free The Children to celebrate the power of young people to change the world.
Selena
is no stranger to the We Day cause, appearing at the California event
last year. This time round, she focussed on judgement and forgiveness,
according to a report on GossipCop.
'When
people look at me, they don’t see a 22-year-old figuring it out as she
goes. They see what they want to see,' she told the crowd.
'I
know what it’s like to be judged and to be put down. I know what it’s
like to have other people have opinions of you without knowing you.'

style neckline and closed tow heels on the red carpet at the event
She went on to encourage her audience to focus on positives rather than negatives.
'I
want to say you are not defined by an Instagram photo, by a like, by a
comment. That does not define you. I want you guys to know that the
trick is to focus on the love.
'What
I want you guys to do is, every rude comment, every person that tries
to hurt you personally or though the Internet, I want you to forgive
them. Just forgive them.”
Selfie time: The star took a snapshot with her phone with the audience in the background
'There is so much love in this world, and in this stadium. Do not limit yourself because of what others expect.
'We
all deserve more than we think, and in the end, nobody remembers those
haters, the comments. Nobody remembers them. They’re just background
noise.'
And the star paid tribute to the positive message behind friend Taylor Swift's hit song Shake It Off.
'Like my friend Taylor says, the haters are gonna hate. Just shake it off.'
