0
To celebrate Nigeria’s 54th independence, leading urban music channel, MTV Base Africa made a compilation of their Best 20 Nigerian songs of all time.

According to MTV base website, the list of the top 20 songs of all time was not compiled until fans across Africa have had their say via votes across multiple social platforms.

From the votes gathered, producers of the TV station came up with the compilation list below: -

1. 2face Idibia – African Queen

2. 9ice – Gongo Aso

3. D’banj – Oliver Twist

4. P-Square – Do me

5. Wizkid – Holla at your boy

6. Davido – Dami Duro

7. Ice Prince – Oleku

8. D’banj – Why me

9. M.I – Safe

10. Olu Maintain – Yahooze

11. Neato C – Kini big deal

12. Davido – Skelewu

13. Banky W – Lagos Party

14. Wizkid – Pakurumo

15. ASA – Jailer

16. P-Square – Chop My Money

17. Wande Coal – Bumper to Bumper

18. Dr Sid – Surulere

19. Flavour – Nwa Baby Remix

20. KCEE – Limpopo

On seeing the list, Iyanya felt very disappointed that his 2012 monster hit single, ‘Kukere’ didn’t make the list.

The angry singer took to his Twitter page to share his thoughts: ‘So Kukere is not among the top 20 Nigerian songs of all time. Lol. Wonders shall never end. Ahead Ahead.’

Shortly after posting the tweet, the singer deleted the post, maybe as a way of avoiding the controversy it might generate but we were able to capture it before it was deleted.
