Selena Gomez went chic in an all-black ensemble to host the NEO For Adidas fashion show in NY on Wednesday

Selena Gomez tried to keep the focus on the new fashions and not on herself.

The Come & Get It hitmaker still got her moment in the spotlight on Wednesday by hosting the NEO For Adidas runway show during New York Fashion Week.

Selena, 22, who can put together a racy outfit in no time at all, opted for a black knit, long-sleeved top and trendy drawstring trousers that she teamed with a chic pair of black wedge booties.

Her dark brown hair was sleek and straight without a single curl or wave to it as it dropped to her waist, blending in with the overall colour scheme of her ensemble.

Selena showed off a dark red manicure as she spoke into the microphone during the show, which boasted an array of Fall/Winter wear.

One model sported a riveting red mini-dress and black vest and knit cap, and a black clutch to match, while another modelled a beige and black striped sweater dress.

Still shining: The 22-year-old hitmaker wanted the new fashions to be on display not her but she still managed to steal some of the spotlight

Teen friendly: The designs boasted leather leggings, short dresses, jackets, scarves and hats geared towards the younger generation

Graphic T-shirts, jeans, stylish jackets, autumnal scarves and hats were also part of the eclectic collection.

After the show, Selena proudly posed centre with the models who lounged behind her on a prop made to look like a school's front steps.

NEO For Adidas was the first teen-friendly show at fashion week as every aspect of the event, from music to hair, make-up and styling, was decided by teenagers via Twitter, according to Teen Vogue.

Sporty chic: Graphic print T-shirts and jeans for girls were seen and plaid shirts and jackets for guys

Job well done: Selena smiled and relaxed on stage at the show that she helped to design with the label and teens via Twitter

Days ahead of the show, Selena and people behind the Adidas NEO label tweeted certain 'tasks' to the young generation, such as sharing photos of their home towns with the winning snap to be used to help establish the mood of the show's set design.  

After the show, Selena certainly seemed in good spirits as she shared a hand-written letter, writing, 'What I love to end my day to.'

A fan had scrawled effusive sentences such as 'You are my role model' and 'you are beautiful.'

The young star may have needed some bolstering after her on-again boyfriend Justin Bieber was arrested during the pair's romantic Labor Day break in Canada.
