Nicki Minaj stood out like a sore thumb in her colourful gown as she attended the Versus Versace afterparty as part of New York Fashion Week on Sunday night

Nicki Minaj could never be called a wallflower.

But she was downright unmissable as she hit up the Versus Versace afterparty at the Metropolitan West on Sunday night as part of New York Fashion Week.

Donning a striking creation by the designer du jour, she stood out like a sore thumb in the brightly-coloured fitted maxi-dress, the singer actually rather covered up for a change.

The short-sleeved number hugged her ample curves in all the right places while providing modesty not usually associated with the Anaconda hitmaker.

A demure knee-high zippered slit up one leg revealed a hint of skin, while exposing her chunky black platform boots, which were also Versace.

The 31-year-old pulled her long raven locks back from her face in a simple sleek ponytail, her complexion bronzed and glowing.

A slick of winged kohl liner and shimmery bronze shadow accentuated her eyes, her lips a nude blush shade.

Ladylike: The Anaconda hitmaker was actually quite demure for once, her ample curves covered up by the striking printed Versace maxi-dress, which featured short sleeves and only a very subtle knee-length zippered slit up one leg

Ready for her close-up: The 31-year-old pulled her impossibly long raven locks into a sleek ponytail, her face beautifully made up with a complementary covering of bronze cosmetics, her eyes accentuated by a swipe of winged liner

A collection of delicate gold bracelets and several chunky black bangles on her wrists, long dangly gold earrings and several rings added some extra interest to her look.

The star rubbed shoulders with a who's who of the celebrity world at the soiree, with the likes of supermodel Naomi Campbell, songstress Jennifer Hudson, Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev and former co-star Phoebe Tonkin among those in attendance.

Nicki also got up close and person with 59-year-old designer Donatella Versace herself, the couple posing up a storm for photographers as they sat together during the festivities.

Hitting all the right notes: Nina Dobrev also opted for a colourful printed mini-dress from the same collection, which she paired with a fitted black blazer that was turned up once at the sleeves

Put-together: The 25-year-old completed her look with chunky black lace-up ankle boots and a matching clutch, while she too wore her long tresses in a ponytail and only a very minimal covering of make-up

While many of the invited guests stuck with classic black, Nina followed Nicki's lead by donning
a similar colourful mini-dress from the same collection.

The 25-year-old only revealed a hint of the fabric, however, slipping a black fitted blazer on over
the top that was turned up once at the sleeves.

Black lace-up ankle boots and a matching clutch completed her look, while she too wore her long chestnut tresses up in a high ponytail, the length curled slightly for added volume and interest.

Putting her best foot forward: Fresh from walking the runway at the Diane von Furstenberg show earlier that afternoon, supermodel Naomi Campbell was ready to party, clad in a miniscule black leather mini-dress, teamed with strappy black stilettos

Lovely in leather: Teen star Bella Thorne went for a similar look in her fitted black leather mini featuring unusual cut-out detail across the neck, paired with funky strappy black patent leather heels, her famous long red mane providing a nice contrast

Her make-up was fresh and natural, with little more than black mascara and some highlighter adding definition, her lips a soft blush colour.

Also making an impression was former Disney darling Bella Thorne, who was lovely in black leather.

The 16-year-old showed off her long legs in the fitted mini-dress which featured an unusual cut-out design across the neck, which she paired with funky strappy black patent leather stilettos.

The fashionista wore her famous long red locks down in loose waves, her dark lined eyes bringing the look together perfectly set off by her blood red manicure and pedicure and rose-hued lips.

Ethereal: Jennifer Hudson stood out in her pristine white silky mini-dress, which barely contained her modesty, the tiny outfit featuring a flattering cowlneck, cinched waist and draped skirt

Date night: Rachel Zoe and husband Rodger Berman arrived hand-in-hand, the stylist-turned-designer looking suitably chic as always in her flowy black one-shouldered maxi-dress featuring cut-out detail on the torso, with a gold sequinned blazer draped over her shoulders

Standing out in ethereal white was Jennifer Hudson, who barely contained her modesty in the tiniest mini-dress known to man.

The shiny silky number featured a flattering cowlneck, cinched waist and draped skirt, with a train-like length of fabric flowing out behind her from one shoulder.

The 32-year-old donned statement black thigh-high suede boots and wore her cropped mane swept across her forehead, completing her look with heavily winged eyeliner and shimmery purple lipstick.
