MASSOB wants Police to release bodies of deceased members

UMUAHIA—MOVEMENT for Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has called on the Police to release the bodies of its members who died during the recent factional crisis between some members from Onitsha and those at the group’s headquarters at Okwe.

A statement by MASSOB Director of Information, Comrade Uchenna Madu, in Umuahia, said the families of the slain members were worried and complaining of the unavailability of the bodies of their children.
Madu alleged that he had received threats on account of alleged statement credited to him that he was ready to die in defence of Chief Uwazuruike.

He said he never said he would die in defence of Uwazuruike but only said any assassination attempt on him would be resisted.
Madu said:  “Concerning the falsehood being circulated among our members that some members are planning to assassinate Uwazuruike, I did not vow to die for Uwazuruike in his defence, rather I said that such a pla will be resisted and some members may even die in his defence.

“I have received series of threat calls and text messages over my life and family. I appealed to the police to release the bodies to assuage the worries of their family members.”
