United are unlikely to make a move as Alonso is 32 and a former Liverpool player – the Old Trafford club’s most-bitter rivals.

But the Daily Star Sunday understands that City boss Manuel Pellegrini is interested in Alonso as a free-transfer signing.
A deal in this month’s transfer window, though, would see Real require a fee.
