Suarez named player of the year after turbulent 12 months for striker

Luis Suarez was named Player of the Year at Monday night's Football Supporters' Federation Awards - and Kolo Toure thinks Liverpool can win a trophy to keep hold of him.
Less than six months after Arsenal bid £40,000,001 for the Uruguayan, Suarez was lifting silverware at the Emirates.

But it was an individual award for the striker rather than a team one for Arsene Wenger's men after he beat Leighton Baines, Christian Benteke, Juan Mata, Robin van Persie and Pablo Zabaleta to the prize, which more than 500,000 people voted for.

The Liverpool striker, who attended the event at the Emirates, said: 'I think it is fair to say the past year has been an eventful one for me.
'This award is not just for me but for my team-mates, management and coaching staff and everyone connected with Liverpool.'
It has been a remarkable turnaround for the 26-year-old, who was banned for ten matches by the FA last season for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.
He didn't even make his league bow this season until September 29 but has already notched 17 times for the Reds.

Brendan Rodgers' side lie just two points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, with Toure insisting that the club are capable of claiming silverware in order to keep hold of their talisman.
'I think he can see that all the players want to fight and want to win this title, definitely,' Toure said.
'We don't want to lose him to another team. And you can see that everyone from this wants to improve the club, to try and win a trophy.
'He is a great player and was amazing at Spurs, playing like he always does.'
