Tottenham Hotspur are looking to make a £28million bid for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke in the January transfer window.
The Belgian, who made an astonishing U-turn in the summer to sign a new contract at Villa Park despite interest from Chelsea and Spurs, could move to London sooner than Villa fans expected.

Red hot: Benteke has attracted the attention of a number of
Europe's top clubs after his fine form for Aston Villa
Benteke put pen to paper on a four-year deal just months ago, but is
not expected to see more than a year of that out when clubs come calling
again in the summer, but Spurs are looking to get ahead of the game.
Benteke scored 23 goals in his debut Premier League season, and has found the net five times this season in seven appearances.
However, Villa would want £35million if they were to sell in January, with Spurs also looking elsewhere for striking options to fit into their fluid 4-3-3 system.
Manchester United man Javier Hernandez has been touted as a possible option, though David Moyes is unlikely to sell so soon in January.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is also looking at alternatives in Spain, Italy and Brazil, but much will depend on their position in the Premier League in January, particularly their title credentials.
Clubs in Italy are also looking at 22-year-old Benteke, with Roma and Juventus rumoured to be interested.
