South Africa's poor and middle class should support the e-toll system so that the country does not default on its finances, the ANCYL national task team said.
"We call upon the public to comply with e-toll plans so that the state does not default," African National Congress Youth League leader Mzwandile Masina told reporters in Johannesburg.
Public and scholar transport were exempt from tolls, Masina said.
"We are concerned about the middle class. We have been guaranteed [by the SA National Roads Agency Ltd (Sanral)] that the rates are now lower.
"We will keep looking into lowering rates and off-setting costs as we continuously engage with Sanral."
