A Free State mother convicted of raping her teenage son is to be sentenced by the Bloemfontein Regional Court on Wednesday.
In an explanation of plea read to the court, the 51-year-old woman admitted to having sex with the 17-year-old without his consent.
She admitted raping him from December 2007 to January this year.
On Tuesday, the woman appeared in court with an arm and a leg chained together. She continuously wiped tears from her face.
The rapes became public in January, when the boy told his story to a psychologist, after being admitted for treatment.
Testifying in mitigation of sentence, the woman's Dutch Reformed Church minister said he met the woman just before her arrest in March.
He told the court she was emotional and had wanted to speak to her son and ask for his forgiveness, but could not. He had already been moved from his home and was staying with family.
