A representative for the British actor confirmed the breakup to E! News.
'In a joint statement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months,' the spokesman told MailOnline.
Confirmed: Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr,
pictured earlier this month, released a statement revealing they have
split after three years of marriage
The statement added: 'Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family.'
The British actor and the Australian Victoria's Secret model began dating in 2007 before tying the knot three years later.
The 30-year-old model gave birth to the couple's son Flynn back in January 2011.
Last public appearance: It seemed like
nothing was amiss in September when the actor cuddled his wife at the
afterparty for his new play Romeo & Juliet on Broadway
According to the website, the couple
were last pictured together at the beginning of this month, while their
final public appearance together was at the opening night of Bloom's
Broadway production of Romeo and Juliet On September 19.
The 36-year-old actor is currently starring in the play alongside Condola Rashad as his leading lady.
Miranda gushed about her husband's performance to the November issue of Cosmopolitan.
'When I saw Orlando on Broadway in Romeo and Juliet, I was blown away,' she said.

'For
someone to be able to learn all that and hold the energy to do it every
day, six days a week - I have so much respect for him. We don't run
lines though. We keep that very separate. That would be like me asking
him to teach me how to catwalk.'
In fact, the couple still looked very much in love as they cuddled up on the red carpet of Orlando's play opening.
Holding on: Miranda and Orlando attend the 14th

It's possible that the couple's busy work schedules have played a hand in the demise of their marriage.
Bloom filmed movie, Zulu, on location in South Africa last year and also flew to New Zealand to film two Hobbit epics on location this summer.
And Miranda often travelled to Europe for work as she models for Victoria's Secret and does runway shows for Versace and Christian Dior.
In September she was in Paris for Fashion Week where she walked the runway for Stella McCartney.
She also just shot the new campaign for Swarovski.
On top of this, the couple's relationship was reportedly shaken in December when Miranda was linked to actor, Leonardo DiCaprio.
The model raised eyebrows in New York after being seen partying and with the star.
Miranda partied the night away at Leo's birthday on November 10, then the pair enjoyed a dinner with friends on the 21st, before they were joined by Cameron Diaz at a club opening on the 30th.
But her camp strenuously denied the claims at the time, with a source close to the couple saying: 'Orlando and Leo are friends; Miranda and Leo are just friends.
'There is absolutely nothing going on with Leo. They have been very good friends for a very long time.'
