DJ Bongz real name Bongani Dlamini Ngcobo plans to extend his roots into the fashion world by launching a clothing store.
“I am launching a clothing store soon. I have always been a man of good taste and want to share my style view with men, all of this is exciting for me” says DJ Bongz.
DJ Bongz adds that his clothing line Mabala Emporium will cater for the stylish with money and will not come cheap.
“I am about quality and quantity, I am catering for the instagram market, people who hold double phones, those are the stylish niche.”
The Durban based musician known for popular hits such as 'Thando Lwakho' and ‘Kwaze Kwamnandi’ has decided to cut ties with Sony Records, and join Soul Candi instead.
“My contract with Sony has come to an end. Now that I am with Soul Candi, I will be releasing my new album titled 'Mabala Noise' with them,” he says.
The Sobabili album placed the DJ on another level in the music scenes and he plans to bring back the vibe with his new release featuring R Mashesha from kwaito group Big Nuz.
Known for dance, Bongz has now evolved his sound into a fusion of House and hip hop.
“I fused hip hop ad House, this style is different; it’s mostly done in the US but we are also capable of producing such tunes.
“It is important for me to come back with a bang. People think I have been silent but I have not. I have been busy with gigs, the only difference was that I have not released anything fresh yet.
“I am bringing back the old Bongz and in my new album I have collaborated with Durban musicians such as Big Nuz, Fisherman and Zakwe. In some of my other tracks I have worked with Bongani Fassie and Bucie.”
The album will be released early next year.
