The United manager said he could take the criticism after Sunday’s 4-1 derby defeat by Manchester City.
Much of that criticism fell even before the Premier League season had kicked off, with the champions failing in their pursuits of many players during the summer transfer window.
Hang your head: David Moyes has had plenty to think about since Sunday's 4-1 loss to Manchester City
Asked if he needed more players, Moyes said: ‘Maybe where we’ve got work to do is to bring players in, not for the squad, but to go right into the team. But that will happen.
‘Going back to that transfer window, we always said it was going to be a tough one and it was going to take a bit more time. So yes, it does mean I may have to take a few more blows.
‘I knew this was going to be the case because I was taking over from a great manager and it was always going to take time for me to change things.’
Ouch: Moyes was outthought by Manuel Pellegrini, and admits that that could happen more often this season
Major signing: The Scot reuinited with former Everton colleague Marouane Fellaini in a disappointing summer
City brought in several more players than United in the summer, but after a manager as influential as Sir Alex Ferguson left, Moyes is adamant his side are in a transitional period.
He added: ‘You have days like we did on Sunday and there might be more because we are in a period where there will be transition.’
