Luis Suarez has been ordered to apologise to his Liverpool team-mates before he is welcomed back into the Anfield fold.

The Uruguayan was forced to train on his own after claiming the club had broken a promise to sell him to a Champions League club this summer.

But manager Brendan Rodgers has repeatedly insisted his star striker will remain with the club despite Arsenal making an offer of £40,000,001, a sum they believed was enough to trigger a clause in his contract.

'Initially there will be an apology to his team-mates and the club, then a recognition that he is ready to fight for the club,' said Rodgers after his side had lost to Celtic in their final pre-season friendly.

'I know that we are not seeing the Luis Suarez I know. He has spent some days working on his own. When he comes back from Uruguay we will see how it goes further.

Standing firm: Brendan Rodgers has reiterated his stance that Suarez will not be sold to Arsenal
'We are all on the same page. He won't be going to Arsenal, that's for sure. When Luis is committed to the cause, we will welcome him back with open arms.

'I was made aware at the end of last season that a number of clubs would come in. The reality is that one have done.'
