Chelsea remain interested in signing the unsettled striker and Moyes is poised for a fresh, improved bid from Jose Mourinho in the coming days.
The pair have not spoken since the new United boss angered Rooney by suggesting he wanted to keep him at Old Trafford as back-up for Robin van Persie.

Rooney is said to be as determined as ever to leave the Barclays Premier League champions and is expected to make his feelings known to the manager when they meet.
The 27-year-old has been spending time recuperating after suffering a hamstring injury at the beginning of the tour of Australia and the Far East.
And following a family holiday in Portugal he is expected to line-up for United in a friendly against AIK in Stockholm next week.

It is understood Moyes had been considering an offer for the Croatia maestro, should a move for Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas fail to materialise.
But Ancelotti said: 'It is not true that Luka is going. He's very important player for us and he will be here this season.'
