In a new promo for the annual MTV Video Music Awards, Katy Perry's new track Roar intros the advertisement with a troupe of punk rockers walking down a New York street, in which a tiger also appears.
They stop in front of a manhole, out of which the Fireworks singer emerges in her own punk rock outfit and walks with her gang to the subway.
The singer debuted the first single off her Prism album Roar earlier this week and is already battling with Lady Gaga's Applause for top of the charts, who will be doing her first performance since her hip surgery at the MTV ceremony.
Miley Cyrus also released a promo for the awards ceremony last week, in which she and a fire-breathing troupe takes on a subway station.
It seems these queens of pop are gearing up for an all out battle.
