Lohan 'threw a tantrum' right before cameras start rolling on set of Chelsea Lately

Though the unpredictable Lindsay Lohan notched kudos for her surprise guest hosting on Chelsea Lately, not everything went smoothly that night.

According to reports, right as the show was about to start shooting, the 27-year-old actress threw a tantrum and demanded that The Canyons co-star James Deen be in the audience, according to a source close to her.

'Lindsay called The Canyons director Paul Schrader from the set and insisted that she could not go on unless James Deen was in the audience to support her,' the source told RadarOnline.

That might make sense more if Lindsay and James were best of pals, but that's apparently not so.

'She hated James,' the source added. 'But she wanted him there, so he was called.'

But it seems that the 27-year-old porn star wanted no part of the Chelsea Lately shoot.

'James flatly refused, saying he was too busy!' the source noted.

Shooting The Canyons probably left a sour taste in his mouth, and Deen has openly - if diplomatically - revealed that Lindsay was a nightmare to work with on set, with more tantrums and unreasonable demands galore.

Still, the Chelsea Lately episode went off without any other hitches as Lindsay kept her cool and dropped wry jokes on Kristen Stewart, One Direction's Harry Styles and others.

And audiences certainly loved her appearance on the show, giving Handler's talk show a massive ratings boost.

The Lindsay episode was the most-watched since October 2012, raking in a 48-percent boost from the year-to-date average.

Lindsay should bring an even bigger ratings bump to Oprah's Next Chapter, on which the star talked to Oprah about her life and mishaps.

The highly anticipated interview, the first sit-down for Lindsay after her 90 days in rehab, will air on the OWN Network on Aug. 18.

Oprah told the Today show that Lindsay is a 'really, really fine actor' who simply needs to 'put the pieces back together.'

But LiLo might soon run out of opportunities for good if she keeps being uncooperative and combative on set.
