Kelly Rowland on how she prayed for cell phone signal during harrowing lost-at-sea ordeal

She feared for her life during a lost-at-sea moment off the coast of Provincetown, MA.

And two weeks later, Kelly Rowland detailed the harrowing event, which occurred the afternoon of July 22 on a whale-watching cruise.

'I remember thinking to myself, "Lord, please don't let this boat capsize,"' the 32-year-old singer told People magazine at the Television Critics Association event Thursday.

'"Please let us get to shore in one safe, sound piece. I just want to see tomorrow."'

The four-time Grammy winner was on the boat with friends when the crew lost sight of the boat they were following.

Kelly and the other passengers scrambled to get a signal on their cell phones, but they were too far off shore.

'I was like, "Please, Lord, give me two bars,"' Rowland recalled praying.

'He gave me two bars and we contacted some folks that were on land and they helped us.'

The X Factor judge then endured stressful 10-foot swells as the Coast Guard towed her boat back to safety.

'The waves coming in were like 5 to 10 feet high and the boat was only a 27-foot boat and it felt like forever to get back to shore,' said Kelly, adding that she won't board another boat 'for a long time – a very long time.'

Rowland didn't touch land until 11:47 p.m., more than 10 hours after the trouble at sea began.

The former Destiny's Child member also came to the defense of her fellow X-Factor judge Simon Cowell, who's having a baby with his best friend's estranged wife Lauren Silverman.

'I think Simon will be a wonderful father,' she told E! Online at the TCAs.

'It's not my news to share, but I do know about Simon and his character. He's going to be a great dad.'

Kelly then called the 53-year-old Englishman 'always classy' and a 'classic father figure.'

She even offered to babysit Simon's future child: 'If he wants me to. I love babies!'

The Motivation hitmaker joined Cowell, Demi Lovato, and Paulina Rubio at the Beverly Hills press event for the Fox singing competition.

Rowland flaunts her surgically-enhanced cleavage on the cover of her fourth studio album Talk a Good Game, which debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200.

The Kisses Down Low star is next scheduled to perform alongside R&B singer Chris Brown on August 17 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, TX.

And the third season of The X Factor premieres September 11 on Fox.
