Why is Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger so keen to sign Luis Suarez?

Suffice to say 51 goals in 89 starts for Liverpool is the primary reason. But it is his ability to produce the match-winning moments that has Wenger willing to spend like he’s never spent before.
Wenger knows he needs more than a striker, which is why he is so keen to revamp his side with Marouane Fellaini and Cesc Fabregas.

Arsenal have first refusal on Fabregas and are keen to play the Barcelona midfielder next to Jack Wilshere. They face competition for him from Manchester United, as they do for Fellaini.

The Everton midfielder would play a vital role behind the strikers. Both he and Fabregas would add to the goals tally while providing stardust.

Arsenal need to add experience while they wait for Wilshere and Theo Walcott to become the finished article. Wayne Rooney is an option if United refuse to sell him to Chelsea, and Uruguay striker Suarez also has the flexibility Wenger likes in his forward players.

Walcott and Lukas Podolski can play anywhere in the front three — as can Suarez. He could even flourish next to target man Olivier Giroud in a front two should Wenger feel he needs to change from his preferred 4-3-3 formation.

Wenger likes having options and, in Suarez, he would have many. Yes, he comes with baggage after his disciplinary problems but, put simply, he wins you football matches… and, after eight seasons without a trophy, that is all Wenger should be concerned about.
