The A-list actress could hardly deflect the heat or curious gazes in a dowdy black outfit as she took her three-year-old son Louis to school on the warm summer day.
Sandra was seen exiting through a gate on the Los Angeles campus all by herself and with that prim hairdo and old-fashioned dress she looked more than a little like a schoolmarm.
The 48-year-old star's black dress fluttered almost to her ankles and featured see-through embroidery along the hem, and with it she also wore a little black sweater and black flats.
Her luxuriant brown hair was piled on top of her head in a hassle-free 'do that kept her neck cool.
Sandra showed she is lacking in diva tendencies, preferring to do the school drop off duties herself rather than leave it to a hired assistant.
Ever since she adopted her son Louis as an infant in January 2010, Sandra has been a hands on mother.
Louis has accompanied Sandra on her film shoots and other adventurous travels around the globe.
Sandra will next be seen in the cutting edge sci-fi flick Gravity opposite George Clooney.
Stealth mission: Sandra appeared to fiddle with the door knob before getting a handle on it
The new trailer was just released ahead of the movie's opening at the Venice Film Festival in August.
The two-minute-long sneak peek depicts the disastrous consequences of a routine deep space mission gone awry, leaving two astronauts clinging to their very survival.
Sandra attended the San Diego Comic-Con with the film's director Alfonso Cuaron during which she admitted her fear of heights proved to be an obstacle to overcome when shooting the film.
'I was a dancer growing up, and I used my dance training to keep my core strong for such a demanding role,' Sandra said.
'They had me strung up on wires for eight to nine hours a day. If you were in pain, either use it or I learned how to meditate.'
She added: 'Alfonso gave me boxes of CDs with sounds. Anytime I was in a place, he would just play music for me.'
