But Kris Jenner went to somewhat extreme lengths in the hope of keeping one television critic sweet.
The Kardashian matriarch shamelessly attempted to bribe New York Post reporter Linda Stasi into writing a positive review of Kris by sending her a sterling silver Tiffany pen - retailing at a price of £275 - and cupcakes.
However, unfortunately for the 57-year-old reality star, the columnist outed her sneaky move on Twitter.
Kris wrote: 'Dear Linda, Sorry you didn't like the show. I'm still a huge fan of your column. Love and blessings, Kris.'
She added: 'P.S. When you think I've improved, maybe you will write a better review with this.'
Slamming the attempted bribe as 'shockingly wrong', Linda then took to her Twitter page to spill the secret.
Shameless: Unfortunately for the 57-year-old reality star, columnist Linda Stasi outed her sneaky move on Twitter
She tweeted: 'Does this bribe make me look fat? Kris Jenner just sent me a Tiffany pen with which to write her a better review next time! Shockingly wrong!'
During her assessment on Access Hollywood Live, Stasi said that 'some people just need to shut up' and Jenner 'is one of them.'
'She has as much right having a talk show as her dopey daughter [Khloe Kardashian] with no talent had being a host of the X Factor,' the critic said in the video.
'Horrible, horrible, boring self-involved. I couldn't bear it.'
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the fame-hungry matriarch's inaugural broadcast on Monday beat out Katie, Steve Harvey, and Dr. Phil in Los Angeles. In Dallas, her Fox talk show topped Ellen, Dr. Oz. and Dr. Phil.
However, Fox's The Real beat Jenner's show in the ratings for New York and Philadelphia.
The mother-of-six kicked off her new talk show with controversy as she passed off her stylist's baby for granddaughter North West in order to drum up ratings.
And most of the critics gave Kris dismal one-star ratings and noted that her favourite topic of conversation was her family.
'The tone was set when Jenner started the show with a 10-minute story about the high drama surrounding the birth of Kim’s baby,' wrote The New York Daily News' David Hinckley.
'She didn’t talk about much on the first day besides her guests, her co-host and family. But then, really, what else is there?'
Newsday's Verne Gay said Kris needed to find another topic of discussion calling the show 'another cynical promotional opportunity.'
He wrote: 'Despite a few segments not specifically Kardashian-related - Twinkies, belly dancing, glow-in-the-dark lingerie - the host always seemed to circle back to the most important subject in the world.'
TV Line's Michael Slezak created a special list of the top 12 moments of total idiocy on Kris.
He called out her shameless Oprah Winfrey name-drop and her dream dinner party (dead or alive) list.
'Jesus, for sure...it has to be: I have a lot of questions!' Jenner told a viewer.

During an obstacle course for pets, Jenner uttered 'you don’t want a fat animal' and remarked that the dog on the programme was 'smarter than I am!'
The reality star's series continues its six-week trial run Tuesday afternoon on Fox stations in New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Charlotte, and Dallas.
It will feature a celebrity co-host each week including P. Diddy, Maria Menounos, and Nene Leakes.
She always has KUWTK: Keeping Up With The Kardashians' eighth season continues next Sunday on E!
