According to The New York Post, Miley told the magazine: 'When I smoke, I don’t get the sick feeling I get when I drink, or that anger rising up.'The star then went on to suggest the drug gave people saint-like qualities.
'There’s a reason Bob Marley was like some kind of musical Rasta Mother Teresa.'

The controversial comments were published on the same day that Miley released a new version of her hit, We Can't Stop.
The original video - which sees Miley withering around on a bed in white spandex, making out with dolls and smacking other women on the bottom - set a record for being the fastest to reach 100 million views on Vevo.
To celebrate Miley and her team released a director's cut of the clip.

Running at four minutes long, only the most diehard fans would notice most of the differences.
Director Diane Martel's version sees the star spend more time partying with her poroducer Mike Will Made-It and twerking with nightclub performer Amazon Ashley as well as extended sections of the star watching the sunrise with friends.
The new video, which received 40,000 hits just a few hours after its release, also features a cameo by Miley's beloved pup Floyd.

Diane - who is also the brains behind Robin Thicke's controversial Blurred Lines clip - has also cut out all of the product placement featured in Miley's main clip.
The major difference in the director's cut is an additional scene where Miley signs karaoke surrounded by friends.
Why this scene ended up on the cutting room floor is not known, as Miley makes sure to turn the family past time of karaoke into a steamy dance session.

Singing into a giant novelty microphone, Miley dancers around what appears to be a living room while her friends sing and watch on.

The look is part of a recent style change for the singer which has seen her adopt a more edgy street look.
