Idris Elba wears an electric blue suit at the premiere of Pacific Rim but matches the carpet

Idris Elba may have wanted to stand out at the premiere of his latest film Pacific Rim.

But wearing an electric blue suit he blended into the red carpet - which in fact turned out to be blue.

The British actor, 40, attended the film premiere of action film on Thursday at BFI IMAX, Southbank, London, alongside his co-stars.

But while many of the cast stood out wearing black, Idris unfortunately proved a colour-match for the carpet.

But the star still looked smart in his striking suit, which had a luxurious, silky sheen.
He teamed the statement suit with a fresh white shirt and a pair of shiny black loafer shoes.

His hotly anticipated new film is directed by Guillermo del Toro and features Idris as a tough hero who tells his team:'We are cancelling the apocalypse'.

The big budget film, which is due to be released on July 12, sees an army of human-controlled robots take on a race of aliens who have emerged from the depths of the sea to destroy the human race.

Idris is also currently starring as another tough guy as DCI Luther in the third series of the BBC Crime-Thriller series Luther.

He has also been hotly tipped to play the first black James Bond.

He told GQ:'I'm flattered, obviously, but I've been advised to just pipe down about it.

He added: 'Apparently, Daniel Craig said I'd be a great Bond. Daniel, why did you say that? Dropped me right in it! What an honour it would be, but also, what an indication of change.'
