Pixie Lott ditches the shorts and lowers her hemline to pass strict dress code for Ladies Day at Royal Ascot

She normally loves to show a lot of leg in her trademark hot pants but Pixie Lott was forced to go for a much more lady-like look today as she headed to Royal Ascot.

The All About Tonight singer swapped her signature shorts for a demure dress, which was much more in keeping with the race course's strict dress code.

Pixie’s floral frock finished below the knee, in keeping with the ban on flesh flashing dresses, with the pretty over-sized print brightening up a showery day at the races.

The blonde star finished her look with the ultimate Ascot accessory, a huge statement hat. Pixie’s headgear featured an extra wide upturned brim set off by a giant flower which matched her dress perfectly.
As well as ditching the shorts, the 22-year-old swapped her usual towering heels for a significantly lower pair of black peep-toe pumps, completing her transformation from pop princess to lady-like race-goer.
Her Ascot look was a far cry from the singer's racy ensemble for the Pimm's Summer Garden launch party earlier this week where she arrived wearing a black and white, zipped coat, and little else.

The star was obviously happy with her style departure as she tweeted whilst en route to the race course: ‘feeeeeling posh agaga #Ascot’

The singer wasn’t the only star to catch some action at the races today as Made In Chelsea star Francesca ‘Cheska’ Hull also went posh for a day out.

Unfortunately the blonde Chelsea girl didn’t manage to look quite as chic as Pixie as she perched a  bizarre hat on top of her tousled locks. The headpiece was actually a giant version of a Bahlsen biscuit with Cheska filling her twitter followers in on her strange style choice:

‘Off to Ascot with my crew of merry men! Wearing a fabulous @BahlsenBiscuits hat!!! Yes – it really does take the biscuit! Can’t wait! X’

No one could accuse the MIC star of not going all out with her style choice, as she paired the hat with a matching bag. Cheska’s frock nearly made up for her disastrous accessories with a chic white pencil hugging her curves.
Cheska's Made In Chelsea co-star was also at the races, with Ollie Locke cutting a dapper figure in a pink shirt and  black suit with quirky multi-coloured trim.

London 2012 champ Victoria Pendleton was another celeb face to grace Ladies Day with the cycling sensation choosing a pretty red and black full skirted dress for the occasion.
The star coordinated with a striking feathered fascinator and matching red lipstick.
