Well, it’s been long enough, and I think I need to put myself out there a bit more on the hunt for a new guy, so I’m going to turn the volume up on the make-up front for a night out.
I’m going for a bold bright sexy lip in pillar box red and bright doe eyes. I can’t quite pull off the full Marilyn Monroe style, I’ve got darker skin and I’m a brunette but there’s still bring out the real vamp in me and hopefully lure a few men into my orbit.
Bright and bold: This week Binky is going for a bold bright sexy lip in pillar box red and bright doe eyes
First things first, I took the Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector and dabbed it onto my face, blending with my fingers. I love this product – it gives a gorgeous natural glow.
The next step is the eyeshadow. For a modern 60s feel, this bold white eye line is perfect. To create the look, I took the white shade from Guerlain’s 6 Couleurs Eyeshadow palette and applied it to my top and bottom lash lines with a damp brush, slightly winging it at the end. I also dabbed some of the eyeshadow to my tear ducts – this is an age-old trick to make eyes appear wider.
How To Do Bright Eye Makeup
I then applied Daniel Sandler’s Jumbo Jet Mascara to my top and bottom lashes, wiggling the wand up from the roots to make sure each lash was fully coated. This is one of my fave mascaras – it both lengthens and thickens the lashes like a dream!
I then went back to the Clarins Complexion Perfector and gently dabbed the product under my eyes – it works as both an illuminator and a concealer, so it’ll make eyes appear brighter while getting rid of any mistakes you’ve made while applying your eyeshadow or mascara.
Give it some lip: The main attraction here is
obvs the lips - go overboard with the rest of your makeup and you'll end
up looking like a member of the Cirque du Soleil!
To add a flush of colour to my cheeks I used Guerlain’s Rose aux Joues Blush Duo in Peach Boy. I chose this particular blusher as it isn’t too highly pigmented – a light dusting across the apples of my cheeks and along the cheekbones was all I needed to add a subtle flush of colour. The main attraction here is obvs the lips – go overboard with the rest of your makeup and you’ll end up looking like a member of the Cirque du Soleil!
When you’re making the lips the focal point of your look, it’s absolutely vital that they’re prepped beforehand. So lipliner is obviously essential. I chose Too Faced’s Perfect Lips lipliner in Perfect Red to define and prime my pout.
First, using small strokes, I outlined my lips with the liner – this can be tricky so take your time over it, there’s nothing worse than a wonky lipline (luckily for me I was always good at colouring inside the lines as a child!).
I then used the lipliner to colour in the whole of the lip – this provides a great base for the lipstick and makes it last longer too. And finally I moved on to my lethal weapon – Daniel Sandler’s Luxury Matte Lipstick in Red Carpet.
This product certainly lives up to its name, it’s a really rich bold red that oozes glamour. I applied it with a lip brush so as to really work the colour into my lips.
Finally, as a finishing touch, I dabbed a gloop of Daniel Sandler Super Gloss in Pomegranate to the centre of my lips with a lip brush – this makes them appear fuller and more kissable!
Hope you like this look as much as I do – it’s not one for shrinking violets though, so team your pillarbox pout with some killer heels and lashings of attitude!
